It’s really difficult to make it big at a place which already has a long list of rulers, but hard work and dedication always pays off. And Sushant Singh Rajput falls in that category. The once TV’s boyfriend is now hitting century on the big screen. And here’s how it all happened.

This Patna boy first appeared on the small screen as Preet in “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil”. It was a supporting role that he did, but his popularity was such that the makers had to bring him back for the series finale.

Sushant then came as a lead on Zee TV’s popular show “Pavitra Rishta”. He became famous as ‘Manav’ among his fans, and that was the beginning of a rising star. Though he had the looks of the boy-next-door, he played his mature character with great ease and it was appreciated by one and all. In a very short span of time his female fan following was such that every girl wanted a boyfriend like Manav.

While shooting for the show, he also participated in two dance reality shows – “Zara Nachke Dikha 2” and “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4”. He made jaws drop with his dancing skills and who so ever was not a fan of him, soon became his admirer.

He was unstoppable after that.

In 2011, when he decided to quit the show, it came as a shock to his fans. But when they heard about his big leap to the silver screen, it came as a happy news to them. Sushant played one of the three leads in Abhishek Kapoor’s “Kai Po Che!”. The critics as well as the audience couldn’t take their eyes off him. He won three ‘Best Male Debut’ awards for his performance in the movie.

The same year, he featured in Maneesh Sharma’s “Shuddh Desi Romance”.  He was slowly becoming the hot favourite of B’Town. His performance was once again applauded by all.

Next up was Rajkumar Hirani’s “PK”. He was signed for the role even before the release of his debut movie. Though it was a small role that he did, it was considered an important one.

It was then time for Sushant to play a detective on-screen. The actor played the lead in Dibakar Banerjee’s “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!”. The movie could not make it big at the box-office, but the actor garnered positive reviews for his performance.

This year the actor essayed Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the silver screen in his biopic titled “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story”. His awe-inspiring performance in the movie has made him the talk-of-the-town. People still can’t stop talking about how well he has played his character, and even Dhoni couldn’t believe the ease with which he performed in the movie.

“M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” has so far collected Rs. 82.03 Crore at the Indian box-office. It also became the second highest opener of 2016 with a debut collection of Rs. 21.30 Crore.

From TV’s sweetheart to playing captain cool on the silver screen, his journey has been full of exciting things. We wish him more success and luck for his upcoming projects.

Sushant will next be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s “Raabta” with Kriti Sanon. It will hit the screens in February 2017.
