Have you ever imagined yourself as a character of a Bollywood movie? I have, a lot many times, but I only see myself dancing to their songs on my life based situations. Well, “Baar Baar Dekho” is one such album I see myself dancing to.
The movie, directed by Nitya Mehra, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. It will hit the screens on September 9.
The music of this full-of-life album has been composed by Jasleen Royal, Amaal Malik, Bilal Saeed and Badshah. The album boasts of six songs with singers Neeti Mohan, Armaan Malik, Prateek Kuhad, Harshdeep Kaur, among a few, behind the mic.
The makers made a smart move by releasing the first song “Kala Chashma” even before the trailer went online. This peppy track, with a sculpted Katrina dancing with the very hot Sidharth, made a fan base for the movie. The song, which was originally composed by Punjabi singer Amar Arshi, has been recreated by Badshah. He has added the female version sung by Neha Kakkar, while maintaining the original composition. Neha kills it with her sexy nasal tone and what makes it even better is the rapping bit by the man himself. This whole package created by Badshah makes “Kala Chashma” the ultimate party number of the year.
‘Sau Aasmaan’: This one is my favourite. One can imagine dancing on it for their beloved. The lyrics – “Sau aasmaano ko, aur do jahano ko, chorr ke aaie tere paas” – anyone who has ever been in love will be able to relate to it. The song has been crooned by Neeti Mohan and Armaan Malik. The innocence in their voice, the lovely lyrics and the music will make it your instant favourite.
‘Nachde Ne Saare’: If “Kala Chashma” is the party anthem of the year, then this is the wedding song of the year. With vocals by Jasleen Royal, Harshdeep Kaur and Siddharth Mahadevan, this song has everything- from teasing, to romance, to dance – and you will be able to feel all of it with every beat. This song is loud, groovy and fun. It will make you want to put on your dancing shoes and flaunt those moves in the next wedding you attend.
‘Teri Khair Mangdi’: Sung by Bilal Saeed, this song is from his album “Twelve”, which came out in 2012. However, he has made changes to it to make it apt for the sad situation in the movie. The calmness in his voice and the touching lyrics will melt your heart.
‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’: This is another heart wrenching number in the album. Crooned by Jasleen Royal and Prateek Kuhad, this song will not make you cry, but it will probably make one think. I feel this song is apt for a situation where a once lovey-dovey couple after too much tension builds up in their relationship and then they remember the old times and think “Kho gaye hum kahan”.
‘Dariya’: Crooned by Arko, this song has a folksy-Punjabi touch to it. The lyrics is deep with simple music. It will make you imagine a lover eagerly waiting for his beloved.
All in all, the “Baar Baar Dekho” album is a complete love story in itself. A dance number, a love song, a wedding song and a heartbreak song, it’s a complete package in itself. The songs are fresh, fun and high on entertainment quotient. I give it a 9/10. Love it.
